Hi there,
I'm "Hops" Hudson!
About Me
A rugged, sun-faded resin gnome who was born in the Pacific Northwest and launched himself on a transcontinental beer pilgrimage. Hops spent five boring years bolted to a patio deck at a trendy gastropub in Seattle, Washington. He had a front-row seat to the explosion of the American craft beer scene, watching kegs roll in and out every day. His awakening happened during a chaotic Oktoberfest celebration. A clumsy patron bumped into a shelf, sending a cascade of fresh, citrusy West Coast IPA splashing directly over Hops’ head. The pure energy of those Citra and Mosaic hops broke his resin bonds. He grabbed a souvenir pretzel necklace, jumped into the bed of a departing food truck, and hit the open road. Hops is on a mission to taste the geographic identity of the United States, one pint at a time. He believes you can understand America through its taprooms. Hops travels like a true American drifter. He doesn’t pay for flights; he hitches rides in the dashboard cup holders of long-haul truckers, Volkswagen camper vans, and road-tripping college students. He keeps a miniature United States map tucked into his belt, and instead of coloring in the states he has visited, he uses a tiny hole-puncher to stamp out the locations of his favorite breweries. His absolute favorite spot in any American brewery is right next to the chalkboard menu. He likes to sit on top of the cash register, watching the locals, listening to the regional accents, and waiting for someone to buy him a taster paddle.
