FAQ
How do I access the Last Gnome Location app?
You can access Last Gnome Location through any web browser at lastgnomelocation.com. It's also a Progressive Web App (PWA), so you can add it to your home screen on iPhone or Android for easy access, like an app.
How do I register for an account?
Just provide an email, pick a username, and choose a password. We’ll send you an activation email — click the link inside to finish setting up your account.
How does the map feature work?
The map displays the current locations of gnomes using markers. Each gnome has its own page that shows its travel history. You can control what shows up publicly using your privacy settings.
How accurate are the gnome locations on the map?
Gnome locations are logged using latitude and longitude coordinates and are typically accurate within about 20 feet.
How do I interact with my gnome?
Each gnome comes with an NFC tag on its underside. Tap your phone to it, and you’ll be taken directly to that gnome’s page in the app. From there, you can view its journey and optionally set a new location when you’re on an adventure.
What if my phone doesn't support NFC?
Most phones that support Apple Pay, Google Pay, or contactless payments also support NFC. If you’re having trouble, check your settings to enable NFC.
How do I set a new location for my gnome?
Tap the NFC tag, go to your gnome’s page, and hit the "Set Location" button to log a new place on the map.
Is there a limit to how often I can move a gnome?
Yes — you can only set a new location for a gnome once every five minutes to prevent accidental or rapid-fire updates.
Do I have to travel with my gnome?
Nope. Whether your gnome stays on your bookshelf or joins you on epic quests, it's totally up to you. They're great company either way.
Are there any rules about where I can bring gnomes?
You can bring your gnome anywhere you like — just don’t leave them in unsafe, private, or restricted areas. Think of them like a travel buddy, not something to be abandoned.
How does Last Gnome Location handle user privacy?
Privacy is in your hands. You can choose whether your profile is public or private, and control whether your gnome activity, username, and comments are visible to others. Your email and password are secure and only used for account access.
Can I purchase my own gnome?
Yes! Click here to purchase a gnome. We’ll mail it to you so you can start tracking its journey right away.
What if I accidentally set a gnome’s location somewhere I don’t want shown online?
No worries, when you're logged in and on a gnome page you can delete any locations that you set. Just click the little "trash" icon and confirm. You can also control what activity is shown publicly by updating your privacy settings.
How do I control who sees my activity?
Go to your account settings to manage visibility. You can choose whether your username appears on the leaderboard, whether your gnome moves are public, and whether others can see your comments.
Can I upload a profile picture?
Yes! Head to your account settings to upload a photo that will appear on your profile. You can also write a short bio to personalize your page.
Can I upload gnome photos?
Not yet — but this feature is coming soon! In the future, you’ll be able to upload photos of your gnome’s adventures. We may feature some user-submitted photos on the official Last Gnome Location Instagram account (with credit, of course).
